The newly opened Mediahead store, which launched back in November, is doubling down on its throwback appeal. While it keeps the classic video game inventory that made its predecessor, Video Game Connection, a local staple, the shop has now branched out into movies, giving customers another reason to browse the shelves.
For years, Video Game Connection was known for its deep selection of cartridges, discs, and consoles from the 80s and 90s. Mediahead is keeping that spirit alive, with everything from NES and SNES titles to Sega Genesis and early PlayStation releases. The difference now is the expanded floor space and a dedicated movie section that includes VHS tapes, DVDs, and Blu-rays, spanning cult classics, forgotten B-movies, and mainstream favorites.
The owner says the move came from customer requests. People would come in looking for a game, then ask if they had any horror movies or old action flicks. It felt natural to add that side of the business. The store still buys, sells, and trades used games, and the same trade-in policy now applies to films.
Regulars will notice the familiar layout, with glass cases full of controllers and dusty cartridges, but the new wall of movies gives the place a fresh feel. The goal is to be a one-stop spot for anyone who misses the days of physical media, whether they are hunting for a rare copy of EarthBound or a cheesy 80s slasher on tape. Mediahead is open seven days a week, and the staff says they are always looking to buy collections, so if you have a box of old games or movies in the attic, they want to see it.
