CONTROL Resonant’s compelling exploration of Dylan Faden makes it a must-play in September

CONTROL Resonant’s compelling exploration of Dylan Faden makes it a must-play in September

I spent a full hour with a preview build of Remedy's upcoming adventure, and it is already striking a powerful chord. While the original Control game focused heavily on Jesse Faden's rise as the Director of the Federal Bureau of Control, this new chapter shifts the lens to her brother, Dylan. The result is a more intimate, psychological exploration that feels like a necessary companion piece.

The preview session dropped me into a series of surreal, shifting environments that echo Dylan's fractured mind. Instead of the brutalist concrete halls of the Oldest House, I walked through memory corridors that twisted into impossible geometries. The combat remains tight and kinetic, but the stakes feel more personal. Every enemy encounter seems tied directly to Dylan's trauma and his time as a potential host for the Hiss.

What impressed me most was the narrative pacing. The writing does not waste time on exposition dumps. It trusts the player to piece together Dylan's story through environmental clues, audio logs, and brief, haunting conversations with familiar Bureau characters. The voice acting for Dylan carries a weary, melancholic weight that contrasts sharply with Jesse's determined resolve.

If this hour is any indication, CONTROL Resonant will not just be a side story. It is shaping up to be a must-play for anyone who wanted to understand the man behind the chaos. September cannot come soon enough.
